Rio de Janeiro – On June 14, nine Youth Ambassadors from around the country came to the U.S. Consulate for a pre-departure orientation and visa interviews in preparation for their participation in intensive English summer programs at prestigious institutions in the United States. Public Affairs Officer Erik Holm-Olsen (U.S. Consulate, RJ), Country Public Affairs Officer Adele Ruppe (U.S. Embassy, Brasilia) and Public Diplomacy Officer Heidi Arola welcomed them with brief remarks about the program's importance and the benefits it may bring to each participant's life. The students all received full scholarships for their participation through support from the Fulbright Education USA Office, local private sponsors, and partial tuition waivers from the institutions.
