State Department Policy Planning Director Richard N. Haass Visits Brazil

Amb.Richard Haass(Brasilia, August 26, 2002) -- Ambassador Richard N. Haass, Director of the Office of Policy Planning of the Department of State, will visit Brasilia and Sao Paulo August 26-28. While in Brasilia, Ambassador Haass will consult with the Minister of Foreign Relations and other Senior MRE officials about a range of bilateral and international issues and will attend a lunch hosted by MRE Secretary General Osmar Chohfi.

Additionally, while in both Brasilia and Sao Paulo, Ambassador Haass will meet with representatives of the political campaigns, as well as academic, business and media communities.

This is Ambassador Haass’ first visit to Brazil. From Brazil, he will proceed to Chile.
