Parking: The U.S. Consulate Sao Paulo does not provide parking for visitors seeking Consular Services, and visitors are encouraged to come by public transportation. Should visitors need to arrive by personal vehicles, they will be limited to private and non-consulate sanctioned parking areas. These parking areas vary in price from $R5 to $R10 for the first hour, and about $R2 per each additional hour. These lots are clearly marked by signs and visible attendants. U.S. Consulate visitors arriving in personal vehicles are encouraged to use these lots ONLY, and NOT to park on streets around the U.S. Consulate.
Photos: Required photos for consular services must meet these criteria. Consular visitors should bring these photos with them; however, suitable photos can be purchased inside the consular grounds.
Forms: Follow this link for detailed instructions on forms. NO forms or documents need to be purchased – they are all available for free. NO agency, retailer, or despachantes (expediters) claiming to aid in Consular Services are sanctioned by the U.S. Consulate Sao Paulo (except those listed on this page). Please be sure the barcode located on the third page of your DS-156 application is legible, if it is not your application WILL NOT be accepted.
This is an example of a legible barcode.
These are examples of broken barcodes.

Fees: As of November 3, 2008, there will no longer be a Citibank payment station at the U.S. Consulate in São Paulo. Applicants must pay their visa application fee at any Citibank location (please click here for a link to all locations) prior to entering the Consulate. Please be sure to have your receipt for the visa application (MRV) fee when you appear for the appointment for your visa interview. Please note that NO agency, retailer, or despachante (expediter) claiming to aid in the payment of Consular fees is actually sanctioned to do so by the U.S. Consulate in Sao Paulo.
Appointments: Priority for Students and Renewals: Please note that our visa information service provides priority appointments for student and exchange visitor visa applicants, as well as for B-1/B-2 and B-2 visa renewals for applicants whose visas are still valid or have expired within the past 12 months. Please follow these links for more information about the São Paulo student renewal, business, or tourism renewal programs.
What if I need an earlier appointment? The Consulate makes every effort to grant expedited appointments for urgent medical and business travel.
How do I request an earlier appointment? First, you must schedule an appointment through the scheduling web site, www.visto-eua.com.br. Once you have scheduled your appointment, the web site will provide information on how to request an earlier appointment.
