American Studies

The U.S. Embassy supports Brazilian university-level Studies of the United States through a variety of programs. Chief among these is the Fulbright Program, Wich offers scholarships for graduate-level study in the U.S. and also provides grants for visiting U.S. professors in Brazilian universities.

The U.S. Embassy also promotes a yearly in-country Colloquium on American Studies for Brazilian university professors in the area of humanities and  social sciences. Each year the Colloquium focuses on a different aspect of U.S. society and culture.

Also for university professors, the State Department holds eight highly competitive Summer Institutes in the U.S. every year. This is a worldwide competition. When information about these programs becomes available, it is posted on the Embassy's website. Please check it frequently.
