Secretary Clinton met with President Lula and Foreign Minister Amorim in Brasilia. The Secretary then went to São Paulo, where she participated in a "townterview" (a combination of town meeting and interview) with university students and civil society members at the UniPalmares college campus.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton visited Brazil from March 2-3, 2010. During her stay in Brasília, the Secretary met with Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim, President Lula and Congressional leaders. During her visit, Secretary Clinton and Foreign Minister Amorim launched a Global Partnership Dialogue to deepen cooperation on our the bilateral, regional, and global agendas. They issued a joint statement that demonstrates the breadth of our relationship, with topics ranging from the Middle East peace process, Iran, and nuclear non-proliferation to global climate change and trade negotiations, to reform of the United Nations and Organization of American States.

Secretary Clinton and Minister Amorim also signed three Memoranda of Understanding aimed at increasing our bilateral cooperation on the advancement of women, climate change, and development cooperation in third countries, with a focus on Haiti and Africa.

In São Paulo, Secretary Clinton participated in a "townterview" – a combination of town hall meeting and interview – at Unipalmares college campus.
